A Chinese powder blue dish. China, Kangxi

Large circular dish with flaring sides, decorated with a powdered-blue ground heightened with gilt. At the center, a medallion shows a globular vase on a flaring foot, filled with a bouquet of flowers. The sides are divided into eight alternating radiating cartouches: some with rocks and leafy stems, others with figures in a lakeside landscape with pavilions. The rim is encircled by a continuous gilt trellis punctuated with floral cartouches.
