A Chinese famille rose “cockerel” plate. Yongzheng period.
Finely decorated in the famille rose palette with a pair of cockerels perched on rocks amongst peonies, three cartouches of flowers and fruits are on the rim reserved on a pale blue diaper ground.
A pair of ‘cockerel’ plates decorated with the same pattern and border were sold from The Peter H Frelinghuysen Jr. Collection of Chinese Export Art, Christie’s New York, 24 January 2012, lot 53.
