A Chinese blue and white dish painted with a fenghuang. Kangxi period.
Decorated in underglaze blue with a central medallion enclosing a fenghuang flying over rocks and flowers, surrounded by a band of prunus branche, the rim painted with four flowers and butterflies cartouches on a cell-diaper ground.
A similar plate, but painted in green enamels, is illustrated in the exhibition catalogue L’odyssée de la porcelaine chinoise (Musée national de la Céramique, 2003, p. 186).
