With a scalloped edge, decorated in famille verte and famille rose enamels, with a foliate-vine border on the rim, blossom chain at the well, central scene of three birds close by a tree amongst rocks, shrubs, and flowers, a fourth bird in flight overhead, ships at anchor near a European-style building in the background, gold edge (worn) on the rim.

The exotic birds featured in the central decoration probably copy those that appeared circa 1740 on Meissen porcelain. Similar birds were also known later on porcelain made by Worcester, Chelsea, and others manufactories. Although the vista in the background might represent a partial seaward view of the harbor at Batavia, it more likely copies one of the many harbor scenes found on Meissen porcelain.
