The rolwagen is of slightly baluster cylindrical form, resting on a short straight foot and rising to a gently flared neck. It is decorated in the wucai enamels with a finely executed red diaper ground. The main decoration depicts a garden landscape with pierced scholar’s rocks, a flowering shrub and luxuriant foliage, among which birds are perched. The neck is decorated with flowering branches reserved against the same red diaper ground and is separated from the body by a band of stylised green and yellow petals. The foot and shoulder are highlighted by chi-cloud borders.
