An identical example is illustrated in Fine and Curious, Japanese Export Porcelain in Dutch Collections, Christiaan J.A. Jorg, (Hotei Publishing, 2003), p. 236, plate 299.
Another plate is in the collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art (New-York, Accession Number:2002.447.87) and was exhibited at The Metropolitan Museum of Art. “Japanese Art from the Gerry Collection in the Metropolitan Museum of Art,” November 15, 1989–June 29, 1990.
The arms were attributed to the Portuguese Brandao family (Soame Jenyn’s, Japanese Porcelain, Faber & Faber, 1965), but recent research shows that the arms may not be Portuguese, but Dutch and those of the Dutch Van der Meij of Dordrecht family.
