A Chinese wucai carp plate. Kangxi

The shallow, rounded sides rising to a broad flaring rim, painted with a theme for scholarly success comprised of three interlocked iron-red and gilt fish surrounded by a wide band of underglaze-blue foliated scrolls bearing enameled and gilt buds, the flat rim with  four vibrantly painted and gilt fish swimming amidst waterweed and lotus blossoms, the exterior with two small branches of flowering prunus.
