Decorated in rouge-de-fer and gilt, the central panel decpiting figures with luxurious garments drinking tea around a table in an outdoor terrace beside a balcony with seats, rock works and a pine. The cavetto with four cartouches reserved on a diaper ground and the everted rim with four vignettes with Chinese ladies reserved on a chrysanthemum sprays ground with pale green and blue enameling.
A pair of vases decorated with a very similar enamelling in the Dresden Museum from the collection of Augustus The Strong are illustrated by Eva Ströber in La Maladie de Porcelaine, no. 33, pp. 80/1.
The composition is confident and generous and even the smallest details are executed with the finest brush strokes and fine colouring. As a result of the plentiful use of gold, the garden setting, the furniture, and plants exude a highly refined palace atmosphere.
