Predominantly painted in rouge-de-fer, gilding and grisaille, with a pair of song-birds in flight above a pavilion rising from swirling waves, within bands of pointed petals and alternating panels of further waves, and gilt-ground diaper patterns on the petal-moulded sides with scalloped rim, the exterior with lotus stems bearing leaves and blooms picked out in tones of green and gilding, applied on tiered petals in iron-red and yellow.
